Fathimah Azzahra is an Indonesian medical student who was successfully accepted into and participated in an international research exchange program at Mahidol University, Thailand. Through this program, she was involved in a research project entitled “Investigation of Genetic Variatif Associated with Gestational Diabetes Mellitus,” which focuses on the study of genetic variations associated with gestational diabetes mellitus in pregnant women.
This research was conducted during her medical studies through a rigorous selection process and involved collaboration with an international research team. Fathimah have a strong interest in maternal and child health, particularly in the field of obstetrics and gynecology, was the main reason she chose this topic, as gestational diabetes has a significant impact on the health of both mother and fetus. Through this research experience, Fathimah hopes to build a strong academic and research foundation to support her future studies after graduating as a medical doctor, realize her aspiration to pursue specialist training in obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN) abroad in the future, and contribute meaningful benefits to the advancement of medical science and maternal health worldwide.
